Hey Stuart, long time! I'm really liking your stuff over on your blog! I paint from references I shoot myself. There is alot of composing and sketches before I do the painting. But to answer your question, no, I don't paint plein-aire or on location. I'm more a studio painter, besides I glaze alot so it takes more than one sitting. Take care!
