Wow, this is my eighteenth painting of trains. I was asked by my gallery to explore changing my format to something more upright as opposed to the long panoramics that I have been doing. Oil on canvas, 25" x 40".
This is excellent as are all your other paintings! The vertical composition and the direction of those overpass bridges work really well in leading your eye right down to that train. I love that train!
Beautiful work Donald!....I believe I met you and your wife at the OPA show. I was the guy selling Sennelier paints/mediums.....how did that impasto medium work out for you? I saw your name listed on a recent post by Nathan Fowkes, and thought I recognized your name.
You have a nice mix here of digital and traditional, concept and gallery pieces. I love the trains, and those big wide panorama paintings of the laundry mat, meat market, etc. Great body of work!
Thank you, all for the kind words. I'm sorry that I don't respond sooner. I will try harder. Jared, yes I do remember you! I did like the Sennelier medium, although the smell is rather strong. Aside form that, how can one not like anything from Sennelier? For more bang for the buck, I think I'm going to stick with Dorland's Wax medium which I bought a whole bucket at the show. I like to add it to my Titanium Whites because it gives it an ethereal look and speeds up drying as well! You know how long it takes those whites to dry! Hey by the way, I have visited your blog as well. Looks good! I haven't done my cards yet too, from Moo prints that you suggested...So much to do!

I like it! That bridge looks so imposing; and yes it definitely leads the eye right down to the train in a way highlighting how small we are.
