This is a laundromat based on references I took in Burbank, California. It was finished with an Indian Yellow glaze. (oil on panel, 12" x 48")

schweet! that's some luscious paint manipulation on that thing, donald! love it. Brings me back to my college days when I had to go to a coin laundry to do my wash and sit around for hours with my sketchbook while waiting!
Thank you so much for liking this painting, guys. It's hard to find an audience for mundane sceneries that I am interested in. Maybe that is why I get so many rejections from art galleries. They don't know what to do with my paintings! Ha ha, but these comments are always encouraging, so thank you!
For some reason I keep thinking about chameleons...Love the laundromat paintings, but the meat counter does it for me the most. Hope you are finding time to do more of these and less of the other stuff.
Thank you everyone, for the kind words! Eric, I am doing well at home. Sometimes it gets distracting with he loud noises form my twin boys. Other than that I am really busy. Francis, thank you for appreciating the uncelebrated spaces of urban environment. These comments reminds me that there is an audience out there for the subject matter I do and it motivates me to paint more! Thanks guys!

Wow this looks fabulous, love the light.
The laundromat looks huge; in comparison ours are so small one is lucky to find a washing machine not in use.

Donald,
I love your paintings. I had your web site bookmarked and was very happy to see you've started a blog.
I love mundane scenery and I think there's a market for it. Besides, the way you paint them makes them anything but mundane.
Can't wait to see more.

Awesome work. How's the home studio life treating you?
Nice painting. I don't think your subject matter is mundane at all. Everything can be beautiful through the eyes of an artist!
